UPDATE: Missing Madison woman has been found

MADISON, Miss.- The Madison County Police Department announced that a missing Madison woman has been found and arrested.

Tonya Paige Cockrell was reported missing on Saturday, August 20th. She has been located and returned home safely and unharmed.

Police reported Cockrell was found on Monday night at a home in the Summertree Subdivision. According to their reports she convinced an elderly couple to let her stay there, even though she was aware that police were looking for her.

After she was found, she was then locked up on Tuesday for one count of disorderly conduct. She is scheduled to appear before a judge on Tuesday.

Police said that they do not suspect foul play was involved in her disappearance.

The investigation is still ongoing and further information will be provided at a later time.

The department thanked the media and public for their help in Cockrell’s safe return.
