Yesterday evening around 5:00 p.m., Jones County Sheriff’s Deputies and JCSD Search & Rescue (SAR) Teams responded to a call about a missing 2 year-old girl in the Mill Creek Community. Ida Landrum had apparently walked out of the front door of her home and authorities were called immediately upon discovery.

A local alert was sent out to help with the search. As the SAR Teams searched the area for a little over an hour, a search and rescue drone discovered the toddler’s body in a nearby pond. Jones County Deputy Coroner pronounced her dead at the scene.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department stated on their Facebook page:

“Please keep the family and those involved in the search in your prayers. We thank you for the outpouring of love and concern and willingness to volunteer in the search. Our prayers are with the family and those involved in the search.”
