A baby is dead in Bolivar County. Monday evening, around 7:00 p.m. the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Department was called to a home in Shaw where a relative had discovered a 20-month-old baby girl.
Reports say she had been stabbed and then cooked in the oven.
Bolivar County Deputy Coroner Murray Roark confirmed that the grandmother of the child was taken into custody. Police will be working with the district attorney to determine what charges will be filed.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene and the State Crime Lab is assisting with the investigation. The body of the child is being taken to the state crime lab along with evidence from the scene which will be processed.
