Mississippi Children Saved From Prostitution

JACKSON, Miss. – Two Mississippi children victimized through prostitution have been rescued as part of a local state and federal partnership called Operation Cross Country VIII. The group fights commercial child sex trafficking throughout the United States.

Nearly 19 pimps and 53 others in the state have been arrested.  “Child prostitution is a real threat to children across America, and right here in Mississippi – not just in other countries,” said Daniel McMullen, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in Mississippi. “Through Operation Cross Country, the FBI and its partners in law enforcement emphasize their commitment to identifying and rescuing any child who is being victimized in this heinous enterprise.”

To date, the FBI and its task force partners have recovered and  prevented more than 3,400 children from being exploited. The investigations and subsequent 1,450 convictions have resulted in lengthy sentences, including 14 life terms.
