WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congress today is taking its First Look at the Boston Bombings during a House Homeland Security committee hearing.

There are a lot of unanswered questions about that fatal April 15 attack and Mississippi Congressman Bennie Thompson (D) asked his colleagues not to expect all the answers in this one hearing.  The Democrat even cautioned committee members to choose their questions wisely, saying the attack is still being probed by police and Congress should not do anything to jeopardize their investigation.

His next word of caution, don’t reach conclusions before all the facts are in.  “At this point in the investigation, speculation about the motivations of the suspects and the role of external influences seems to change daily,” he said.  “We all want to know the answers…but this is not the time and the season has not yet come.  So I look forward to our second look, where we can receive testimony from representatives of the intelligence and investigative agencies that may serve to answer many of our questions about motivations, the suspects and external influences.”
