Mississippi Crew Heads to California to Help Fight Wildfires

JACKSON, Miss. – Twenty members of the Mississippi Forestry Commission are headed to Northern California to help with nearly a dozen fast moving wildfires sweeping across the areas.

The wildfires have burned several homes and forced hundreds of people out of their neighborhoods. California fire officials have worked more than 4,800 wildfires so far this year; 1,000 more than average.

The Mississippi crew left Tuesday morning.
