From Mississippi to Hollywood: Two Mississippi Folks Hope to Make History

JACKSON, Miss– Priscilla Barker, 19 from Amory and Michael Simeon, 21, from Lumberton both score a spot in Hollywood for the next round of American Idol.

Barker sang “Delta Dawn,” by Tanya Tucker and while she made it through with Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez wasn’t casting a vote Barker’s way.

“Looking for something special,” said Lopez, “I just didn’t get that today.”

Harry Connick Jr. bailed Barker out with a yes vote on the premise of seeing more from her in Hollywood.

The showstopper for the evening was Michael Simeon, singing “Stay with Me,” by Sam Smith. Not only did Simeon score three yes votes, the judges said he made it easy.

“Sometimes it’s just that easy, thank you,” said Lopez. Simeon paid Lopez back with a slow dance while Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban joined in on “Stay with Me.”

You can follow the Mississippi stars to Hollywood on American Idol which comes on tonight at 7pm on Fox.
