Mississippi House Quickly Approaches Super Majority, Rep. Jody Steverson Jumps The Aisle

RIPLEY, Miss.- On Tuesday you may have voted for Representative Jody Steverson as a Democrat, but that changed today.  After serving Ripley for 4 years as a Democrat, Mississippi Representative Steverson has made the switch over to the Republican Party.

This switch now gives the Republican Party 73 of the 122 seats in the Mississippi House, getting them a step closer to the 74 votes needed to have a three-fifths supermajority.

This growing advantage for the Republicans comes after Republican House Speaker Philip Gunn said Wednesday that he has invited Democrats to switch their parties.

Tell us below what you think about Senate and House members switching parties soon after they have been elected into office.
