Mississippi Native Brings Comedy Back to Home State

HATTIESBURG, MISS–  Stand up comedian Tig Notaro, a Mississippi native, will perform her first Mississippi show at Brewsky’s in Hattiesburg Tuesday, hosted by Hub City Comedy.

Even though this is Notaro’s first booked Mississippi show, it is by no means her first rodeo. Notaro has performed on Conan, This American LIfe, and has starred in episodes of Community and The Office.

Notaro was nominated for a Grammy for her 2014 album Live.

“She didn’t intend to a make Live an album,” says Jamie Arrington, founder of Hub City Comedy, “someone recorded the show, Louis C.K. heard it, and convinced her to release an album.”

Following her Hattiesburg show on Tuesday, Notaro’s showtime show Knock, Knock, It’s Tig Notaro will air on April 17th.

“We are so proud to be part of Tig Notaro’s first booked show in Mississippi,” says Arrington, “this is one of the most important shows in the history of standup comedy in our state.”
