The Mississippi Region of the American Red Cross announced that they will be lending two emergency response vehicles (ERV) to help with the effort as dangerous flooding continues to affect Texas and parts of Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

The large vehicles are commonly used to transport meals, cots and cleaning supplies to areas affected by the disaster.

Mississippi Red Cross ERV drivers will depart from Hattiesburg and Gulfport offices Monday, August 28.

“Volunteer driver Carole Summerall of Columbus, will celebrate her birthday while on deployment,” said Tamica Smith Jeuitt. Her birthday is Tuesday, Aug. 29.  Back in 2005, she delayed her birthday plans to help people recover from Hurricane Katrina.”
