Mississippi Schools Lowest in the Nation, Survey Says

JACKSON, Miss.  – Mississippi ranks last in the nation in student achievement according to a new school performance evaluation released Thursday by Education Week.

Only Mississippi and D.C. received a “F” in student achievement.  And Mississippi ranked among the bottom 10 states in providing students a chance to success in life, financing schools and teacher improvement.  The state’s best ranking was in the area of Standards.  The state got an “A” and ranked among the top 10.
