A flight delay caused one Mississippi soldier to watch the birth of his daughter over his phone.

Brooks Lindsey is a Specialist with the Mississippi National Guard and was rushing home from mobilization training in Texas to be with his wife but got stuck waiting in the Dallas Fort Worth airport instead.

With his wife in labor back at home in Mississippi, Lindsey knew he wasn’t going to make it there in time. So, he did the next best thing.

He sat down on the airport floor and waited to watch his daughter take her first breath and enter the world via FaceTime. Millie FritzAnne Lindsey made her appearance in the world on Friday, May 4 at 5:23 p.m.

Passenger Tracy Dover was traveling back from Colorado and had a layover at the DFW airport when she saw Specialist Lindsey sitting on the floor. She took a photo of him and posted it on social media where the reaction to his daughter’s birth has since gone viral.

“He was crying and our hearts were breaking,” Dover said. “We all gave him space. When we heard the baby cry, we all rejoiced for him.”

Celebrities like Chris Pratt took to social media, congratulated the family and thanked Lindsey for his service.

“We are very happy for Specialist Brooks Lindsey and his wife and family on the birth of his daughter,” said Director of Public Affairs for the Mississippi Military Department, Lt. Col. Christian Patterson. “He is one of our dedicated soldiers that is a member of the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team and we wish him and his family well, along with his unit as they prepare to deploy.”
