Mississippi state offers “text” option for campus police

STARKVILLE, Miss.- The Mississippi State University Police Department is now offering a text option to provide quick access to officers in non-emergency situations.

The texting will be linked to their phone number, 662-325-2121.

University Police Chief Vance Rice said this new technology could be useful in a situation in which an individual didn’t feel comfortable talking on the phone, or could be put in danger if they speak.

However, Rice warns anyone who would try to text in false information as those cases will be treated as a crime.
