In North Mississippi, get the kids in the car and head over to the 19th Annual Southern Lights in Southaven to drive through the 116-acre park with 500,000 twinkling lights. You can tune to five FM radio stations playing Christmas music as you ride through the park and don’t miss the Christmas Tree Farm synchronized to music by Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

In Central Mississippi, come join Vicksburg National Military Park’s living historians at the U.S.S. Cairo on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as they talk about life on the U.S.S. Cairo as part of the Federal Navy. Visitors will have a chance to walk the deck of the USS Cairo with historians portraying the role of its crew. There will be knot tying demonstrations and sailors’ explaining the daily tasks, hardships, and what life was like in the brown water navy.

In South Mississippi, head over to the Hattiesburg Zoo where their train has been magically transformed into the Polar Express where you can take a round-trip journey to the North Pole. Visitors will be able to write their name on Santa’s “nice” list and enjoy holiday music along with a keepsake ticket.
