Mississippi Weekend: Dinos, festivals and Earth Day

If you’re looking for a way to celebrate Mother Earth, head to Hernando for the 7th Annual DeSoto County Earth Day Celebration. This is a free event with exhibits from over 30 organization and lots of kid’s activities. Meet Smokey the Bear, Reggie the Reading Raccoon and Sam E. Soil!

For a scarier look at history, head to Jackson for the Discover the Dinosaurs event at the Jackson Convention Complex. You’ll meet baby dinosaurs,ride in the Jurassic Jeeps on the Dino Raceway and visit the Kids’ Adventure Zone and even hunt for your own dino bones. This family friendly event will put you and the kids back to prehistoric days.

To get on the water, head to the Free Flowin’ on the Riverfront music festival to celebrate the Pascagoula River at Pascagoula Lighthouse Park. There will be music by Honey Island Swamp Band, food, kids activities, and fireworks.
