Mississippi Weekend Festival Frenzy: Bear Creek Music Festival, Market Street Festival, Jerry Clower Festival

JACKSON,MISS– Planning the weekend? Plenty of things to do around the state. Starting on the Coast, the Bear Creek Music Festival at the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Biloxi.

“The festival is designed for artists under the age of twenty-one,” says Ravin Floyd, event coordinator for the festival, “they can come perform here, since because of their age they can’t perform in bars or other venues.”

The Bear Creek Music Festival hosts vendors with art, food, and activities for the kids in conjunction with the birthday celebration of the Discovery Center.

Next stop, Yazoo City for the 11th Annual Jerry Clower Festival. Jerry Clower was a musician and storyteller, and that legacy is celebrated at the festival with music, food, games, auctions, and car shows.  The show is free, but folks are encouraged to bring a folding chair to enjoy the music that will be spread throughout downtown.

Then head to Columbus for the 20th Annual Market Street Festival. This festival has an entire kids area, music, food vendors, arts and crafts, and the Splash of Color 5k. Event coordinator Amber Breslin says the festival has something for everyone, and is also easily accessible:
