Mississippi Weekend: What To Do From The Square To The Coast

JACKSON, Miss– If you don’t have plans already this weekend, News Mississippi has you covered.

From Oxford to Biloxi, there’s a ton for you to do this weekend.

First stop, Biloxi. It’s the 33rd Annual Biloxi Seafood Festival Saturday and Sunday at Point Cadet.

“All of our seafood is caught offshore and sold by our local vendors,” says Rachel Seymour, Director of Biloxi Chamber of Commerce. This year’s Biloxi Seafood Festival is special; it is the first time in nearly a decade that the festival is at Point Cadet, which was destroyed by Katrina.

“We’re excited to have it there, and to have our local seafood to serve,” Seymour says.

If you’re looking for something a little more rowdy, Jackson is your spot for the WWE Live event at the Jackson Coliseum. Roman Reigns takes on The Viper Randy Orton in a street style match. The bell rings Saturday at 7:30pm at the Jackson Coliseum.

If you’re wanting a family-friendly music event, then Sunday take a drive to Oxford for the United States Navy Band Country Current.

“It’s a blend of bluegrass and modern country,” says Marketing Director Kate Matchum, “the United States Navy recruits the top, most highest skilled musicians for their band.”

You can catch that event Sunday at the Ford Performing Arts Center at 3pm.
