Mississippi’s First Lady, Deborah Bryant, stopped by the studio today to join Rebecca Turner and in typical Southern fashion, the two women exchanged food with their greetings. Rebecca gifted the First Lady a bag of her Granny Smith’s secret recipe “Nuts and Bolts”, and Mrs. Bryant brought special Mississippi Sugar Cookies straight from the kitchen at the Governor’s mansion. Mrs. Bryant talked extensively about her efforts to restore the Governor’s mansion, not only for her time living there, but for future generations of Mississippians to enjoy.
You might be surprised to know that you can see one of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s wheelchairs on your tour of the Governor’s Mansion, and the First Lady admitted that when she happens upon a tour as it is going through the Mansion, she’ll often take them on the unofficial tour, which includes Governor Phil Bryant’s 50’s themed “man-cave”.
