Mississippi Blood Services put out an emergency call for blood donations as their supplies are “almost gone”.
Merle Eldridge has been working as the Marketing/PR person for Mississippi Blood Services for five years, and says this is “the barest I’ve seen our supplies.”
Because blood supplies are so low, Mississippi’s largest hospital (and only trauma center) has cancelled non-emergency and elective surgeries to “save the blood supplies for emergencies,” Eldridge said.
The only blood type there is a good supply of is A+, the rest are at “critical” or “severe shortage” levels.
