Mom Accused of Smoking Pot, Neglecting Kids

BATON ROUGE, La. — A Natchez mother of two has been arrested after Baton Rouge police say she smoked marijuana in her car with the toddlers inside and then left them there while she went shopping at a local mall.

An off-duty police officer, working security at the mall, found the 2 and 4 year-olds sleeping in the car and had the mother paged over the mall’s speaker system.  Officers say when Jasmin Washington walked up, the smell of marijuana was noticeable.  She is charged with child desertion, contributing to the delinquency of juveniles and drug possession.
