Morton sees second murder of the year

MORTON, Miss.- The second murder of the year has been reported in Morton, and it involves a former Mississippi State football player. 

One man is dead and another is injured after a shooting that occurred Saturday night around 10:00 p.m.

Police arrested 24-year-old Quay Evans, who is a former defensive lineman for Mississippi State University, along with his brother. The two men are being held at the Scott County Detention Center while an investigation continues.

Morton Police were called to the 300 block of Martin Luther King Drive where they found 34-year-old Eddie Dozier on the ground covered in blood. Police Chief Nicky Crapps told local media that he was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

A second victim, 22-year-old D.J. Palm, was pronounced dead on the scene. Quay and Samuel Evans were arrested Sunday morning and both charged with murder and attempted murder.

Weapons have been recovered from the incident, one inside the home and one outside.

Both are being processed and this is still an ongoing investigation.
