Moss Point Native Going Into NBA Draft

LEXINGTON, Ken.- Devin Booker was just one of seven players to declare for the Draft on Thursday. He’ll be joining the likes of big names such as Willie Cauley-Stein, Karl-Anthony Towns, Trey Lyles, Dakari Johnson, and both Andrew and Aaron Harrison.

Booker was one of four McDonald’s All-Americans that signed with John Callipari and the Kentucky Wildcats in 2014. He is the all-time leading scorer in Moss Point history, with 2,518 points- and he didn’t get there until his sophomore year when he transferred from Grand Rapids, Michigan.

“I honestly didn’t think I’d be in this position this year,” Booker said on Thursday. “I wanted to be a part of something special at a special program like Kentucky. We wanted to make history and we did that. Once you’re caught in the moment, everything was coming so fast towards us.”

While Devin wasn’t exactly the headliner out of this declaring class, he is still expected to go in the first round, as high as 8th or as low as 20th. Either one would still be impressive for the young man.

The NBA Draft will be held on June 25th in New York City.
