MSU Practice Report: Mississippi State’s Defense Feels Confident Heading to Alabama

Alabama may have the best offense in college football, but that isn’t intimidating to Mississippi State, who have consistently dominated throughout the 2018 season. Speaking to defensive coordinator Bob Shoop on Wednesday night, it felt he had a lot of confidence in his group as they prepare to head to Tuscaloosa for a showdown with the nation’s top ranked team.

Mississippi State’s star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons exuded that same confidence, emphasizing that his team just has to do its job and the Bulldogs will have their chance. He stressed his belief that more than any other game, this contest would indeed be won in the trenches.

It will definitely be a match up between two of the nation’s top units, and if Mississippi State can slow down Alabama’s electric offense, the Bulldogs may indeed have a shot at the upset. We’ll talk more about that on tomorrow’s Thunder & Lightning Podcast, and of course on SportsTalk Mississippi.
