MSU quarter back Elijah Staley to transfer

STARKVILLE, Miss. -Sophomore quarterback Elijah Staley has been granted his release and will transfer from the Mississippi State football program, head coach Dan Mullen announced in a statement on Friday.

“We would like to thank Elijah for his contributions to our football team,” Mullen said. “During his time here, he has always been a hard worker and a great teammate. We wish him nothing but the best as he pursues another opportunity.”

Staley, a native of Marietta, Ga., played in two games as a redshirt freshman in 2015. He rushed for 18 yards on three carries and completed 3-of-5 passes with one touchdown.
