MSU’s Reggie Perry declares for NBA Draft

A Mississippi State freshman may be ‘one and done’.

Reggie Perry came to Starkville as a highly-ranked recruit, and after averaging 9.7 points per game and 7.2 rebounds, he has decided to test the waters of the NBA Draft.

The 6’9 forward from Thomasville, GA took to Twitter to make his announcement on Wednesday.

The second half of Perry’s statement indicates that he will not hire an agent, meaning that he will be able to return to Starkville if he chooses. The deadline for Perry to make that decision is May 29th, which is 10 days after the NBA Combine.

After an up and down start to the season, Perry improved as SEC play began. He averaged over 11 points during conference play, and by the end of the season, he put up 9 double-doubles. Perry scored a season-high 21 points in wins over Ole Miss and South Carolina, and he was eventually named to the All-SEC Freshman Team.

The Bulldogs returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a decade, and head coach Ben Howland would probably like to see Perry back in Starkville next season to help them make it back.
