Murder Near McComb, Police Officer Faces Charges

PIKE COUNTY, Miss.–Stabbed to death and buried in the woods in a shallow grave, the fate of 54-year-old Kenneth Ray Thompson. His body was found about 2 a.m. Sunday in Pike County near Pleasant Grove, and now a McComb man, who is also a Brookhaven cop, is charged in connection with the killing.

Jasper Pittman, 25, faces a laundry list of charges, including accessory after the fact of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, arson, conspiracy to commit arson and sexual battery, according to the Miss. Bureau of Investigation.

Charged with murder are 26-year-old Greg Fortenberry and 17-year-old LeJerrious Perkins, both of McComb. The two also face conspiracy charges. A 14-year-old has also been arrested in connection with the case.

The MBI is not saying a lot about the case right now. The body has been sent for an autopsy. It was found about 12 hours after the murder. Cops aren’t discussing how they knew about the crime.
