Murdered With an Ax: Nephew of Murdered Warren County Man Won’t Get Out of Jail

VICKSBURG, Miss.–In court Thursday new info came out about the killing of Alfred Patton, Jr., 62, who police say was murdered by his nephew, Joseph Patton, who was also living with the murdered man.

Investigators said that Patton was found by family members with a 26 inch ax in his throat and that the nephew is on video buying an ax at the Home Depot. There was also other evidence, including bloody clothes and cleaning supplies they say were purchased by the accused.

There may have also been a life insurance policy recently purchased on the senior Patton.

Patton may have been dead for several days before relatives came to the trailer to look for him Tuesday evening. Joseph Patton was arrested Wednesday.
