JACKSON, Miss.–The National Day of Prayer around the country was also celebrated Thursday in Mississippi by many citizens.
This was the 62nd time the day had been recognized in the U.S. and Governor Phil Bryant made a proclamation last month for Mississippi to recognize it once again in the state.
Several dozen people gathered at the state capital Thursday for festivities.
They moved inside, because of the rain, to listen to music and prayers lead by numerous speakers.
Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves opened up the speaking with the reading of the proclamation from Governor Phil Bryant and others from all over the state followed praying for different topics.
Almost all aspects of life were touched on including: families, education, business, imprisonment, legislative topics, mass media, military, and America itself.
