The early signing period has arrived in college football with Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Southern Miss looking to reload their rosters.
With their NCAA sanctions finally behind them, Ole Miss has a chance to field a full class, build depth and add talent to a somewhat depleted roster. With A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf, Greg Little, and several others leaving Oxford, the Rebels have their work cut out for them. Defensively, new DC Mike MacIntyre inherits one of the worst units in the country from 2018, and needs players to step in and contribute right away.
Mississippi State will look to build on an up-and-down first season under head coach Joe Moorhead, but with his first full class, look for him to add players that fit his scheme on offense. Defensively, MSU is set to lose top talent like Jeffrey Simmons (junior) and Montez Sweat (senior) to the NFL, but they’ve already got commitments from some of the state’s top defensive talent.
Southern Miss missed out on a bowl game in 2018, and didn’t have the season they were looking for. A new class could be the key to a return to postseason play for the Golden Eagles next season.
