National Weather Service Ranks Covington County Tornado, Surveys Damage

COVINGTON COUNTY, MISS– The National Weather Service has ranked the tornado that touched down in Covington County on Monday.

“Surveyors say this was an EF-0 tornado,” says David Cox with the National Weather Service, “that means 75 mile an hour winds, and it was 100 yards wide.”

Cox says the tornado was on the ground for just over two miles and that even though it was a small tornado, it still did some minor damage.

“Trees were snapped, light poles were down, and there was a carport that was flipped over.”

No one was hurt in this storm.
