Need Something to Do This Weekend? Mississippi Has You Covered

JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI– Plenty to do this weekend if you’re ready to blow off the stress of the week.

If you’re looking to get on the water, Pascagoula Paddlepalooza is for you. Classes for kayaking and wakeboarding will be going on throughout the day on Saturday at Lighthouse Park.

“For our strictly land-lovers, we’ve got concerts, activities, and the fire department is selling crawfish plates,” says Ann Petri with the city of Pascagoula. That money go towards a benevolence fund that will be extended to local charities.

If you’re hoping to get crafty, the Magnolia Fiber Festival at the Vicksburg Convention Center is right up your alley. Spinning wheels, silk, wool, and all crafty supplies for knitting, crochet, and other fiber arts will be available. If you’re a beginner or maybe just interested, there’s something there for you too.

“We’ll have classes going on for different arts,” says event co-ordinator Mike Harrower, “and classes for kids, too.”  For more information, see the Fiber Festival website by clicking here.

Wrap the trip up in Starkville for a production of Almost, Maine by the Starkville Community Theatre. Almost, Maine, is a story of people and relationships. Some serious, some funny, but all enjoyable at the 86 seat theater. For ticket information, see the Starkville Community website by clicking here.
