New President Named at Northeast

BOONEVILLE, Miss.- Former basketball coach Ricky Ford has been tabbed as the new president of Northeast Mississippi Community College. He will succeed Johnny Allen, who’s retiring on June 30th after serving as president for 11 years.

An alumni of the college, Ford graduated from Northeast in 1975. He was then named the head coach of the women’s basketball team shortly thereafter in 1981. Collecting 588 wins over a course of 30 seasons.

He is set to be inducted into the NJCAA Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in July.

Ford is currently the executive vice president of the school. He has also served as an admissions counselor, dean of students, and director of athletics.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reported that the school’s board of trustees approved the hire during a meeting called on Tuesday.

Ford said that he’s honored the board has entrusted him with leading the school into ‘a new era.’
