SOUTH MISSISSIPPI- The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has issued a water contact advisory for two areas.
The advisories are listed for East Courthouse Road Beach in Gulfport near Courthouse Road Pier from Courthouse Road east to Tegarden, and in Biloxi for Edgewater Beach near Eisenhower Drive from DeBuys Road east to Edgewater Avenue.
MDEQ warns that these waters contain high levels of bacteria that could leave those who come into contact with it very sick.
Other advisories issued are for Gulfport Central Beach from Alfonso Drive east to Arkansas Avenue, Pass Christian East Beach from Espy Avenue east to Hayden Avenue, and Lakeshor Beach near Lakeshore Drive from the Silver Slipper Casino east to Pointset Avenue.
When the water is safe for swimming the advisories will be lifted.
