News Brief: What You Need to Know for Monday

A body found in Petal Sunday.. and police now know who he is. Rodney Gann, 22 years old, was found dead Sunday near Magnolia Lane in Petal. Today his body is at the State Crime lab to figure out what happened.

Another body found Saturday in D’Iberville could belong to a missing Biloxi woman. Tiffany Rea McDavid has been missing since January 6th. Saturday a car was found in the woods in D’Iberville that could be the woman. Investigators are waiting on the autopsy results to determine if it is her or not, and what happened.

Sending your child to another school could one day be an option. National School Choice Week starts today and Mississippi parents are getting ready with a rally on the Capitol steps. There’s work in the legislative session happening now that if it passes, you could send your child to another school, public or private, despite district lines.

Making sure kids learn about science, technology, engineering, and math. Ingalls Shipbuilding donated nearly 100 grand to schools across Mississippi to make sure students have access to STEM programs. Grants were given to Pascagoula High, Woolmart Elementary, and Hancock Middle. Ingalls officials say the money will teach kids and keep them here in the Magnolia state because they could come work for the Shipbuilding company. Over the years, they’ve give nearly seven hundred and ten thousand dollars.
