With more than 400 million dollars siphoned nationally, four Mississippians have been identified as the supposed masterminds of a scheme to defraud health insurers. Advantage, Medworx and World Health pharmacies were also named in the most recent court documents filed by attorneys for the U.S. Department of Justice.

 

A jury will decide who got the most votes in last year’s election of a Madison County supervisor for District Four. Karl Banks, who lost the election to challenger David Bishop by two votes, claims two dozen ballots went untallied. No trial date yet set.

 
Groundbreaking will come next month on the 34 million dollar development planned for the site at Hardy street and 31st avenue. To be called the District at Midtown, the residence hall and parking area that currently occupy the site will give way to restaurants, dining, shopping and a boutique hotel by summer of 2018.

 

Fifteen minutes of fame for passengers on the American Airlines flight from Charlotte to Gulfport. It was aborted yesterday when the plane hit a deer on takeoff. Aviation officials are still unsure how the deer breached nearly 20 miles of barbed wire fencing that surrounds the airport.

 

Imagine a combination of volleyball and raquetball (named for a deli condiment), and you get Pickleball, a new sport which is becoming something of a recreation phenomenon on the coast. Pickleball already has a devoted field of players that convene most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Donal Snyder Community Center in Biloxi.
