North Jackson group home burns leaving kids empty handed

JACKSON, Miss.- The Southern Christian Services for Children Group Home was badly damaged in a fire Monday night, leaving kids with nothing but a few items of clothing.

Officials with the Jackson Fire Department say the cause of the fire is still unknown but the home has fire, smoke, and water damage.

All eight children living at the home are alive and staying in a hotel for the time being, but Executive Director of Southern Christian Services Debbie Dobbins said that they need the community’s help.

They are asking for paper products, cleaning supplies, and any pantry food items that can be donated. Instead of individual clothing, Dobbins is requesting gift cards to places like Target, Walmart, and Kroger so they can purchase the specific clothing items they need.

To donate call 601-354-0983 or visit the main office at 860 East River Place, Suite 104, Jackson, Ms 39202.
