Ocean Springs Student Arrested for Yik Yak Threat

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss.- A freshman at Ocean Springs High School has been arrested for a “serious threat” made against the school on Yik Yak.

Yik Yak is a social media app that allows users to post anonymous statements. Cherie Ward with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department told the Sun Herald the threat was made in September.

After a three month investigation, Ward said the student’s parents were notified and an arrest was made at the school Wednesday.

The case is still under investigation. The student’s name could not be released because the student is a minor.
