Ole Miss Signing Day Central: Live updates throughout the day

Ole Miss is set to put the finishing touches on its 2019 signing class on Wednesday. Follow along here as SuperTalk Mississippi brings you coverage throughout the day on the Rebels’ signees.

Signees

7:45 A.M.  — (4-star) WR Jonathan Mingo (Brandon,MS/Brandon)

Mingo is a nice get for the Rebels, considering the program waved goodbye to the likes of A.J. Brown, Damarkus Lodge and D.K. Metcalf. Mingo was considering Mississippi State and Florida State. Mingo joins Jadon Jackson, Dontario Drummond, Dannis Jackson and Jordan Jernigan as the fifth wide receiver to sign in the class. At 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Mingo is the 32nd rated receiver in the country and No. 12 player in Mississippi, according to 247Sports.

8:55 A.M. — (3-star) DT LeDarrius Cox (Mobile, AL/McGill Toolen)

Cox flipped from Tennessee  to Ole Miss, choosing the Rebels over the Vols and Auburn. Cox, at 6-foot-5, 300 pounds was recruited hard by Freddie Roach and will provide depth on the on  interior defensive line for Ole Miss. Cox is the third defensive lineman in the class and just the second interior DL along with Patrick Lucas. Cox also held an offer from Georgia.

10:20 A.M. — (3-star) DL Brandon Mack (Montgomery, AL/ Jefferson Davis)

Ole Miss is thin on the defensive line in this class and Mack’s addition after Cox certainly helps. A defensive end standing at 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, Mack adds a second edge rusher to this class. Ole Miss struggled to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks from the outside in 2018 and Mack provides a potential option to aid with that deficiency in the future.

11:15 A.M. — (5-star) RB Jerrion Ealy (Jackson, MS/Jackson Prep)

Ole Miss reeled Ealy back in after his de-commitment last month. Ealy has a decision to make with regards to pro baseball. You can catch the story here.

12:05 (3-star) QB John Rhys Plumlee (Hattiesburg, MS/Oak Grove)

One of the more interesting pick ups in this class for Ole Miss. Plumlee was committed to Georgia, but flipped to Ole Miss a few days before signing day after learning the Bulldogs wanted him to take a blue shirt. Plumlee is a good athlete and the 13th rated dual-threat QB in the country, who could potentially be a good fit in Rich Rodriguez’ system. Plumlee, like Ealy is also a two-sport athlete, though Plumlee signing with a Major League club in four months doesn’t seem nearly as imminent. As far as how he balances football and baseball when he gets to Oxford remains to be seen. He joins Grant Tisdale and Kinkead Dent as the third quarterback in this class.

1:30–(4-star) ILB Lakai Henry (Vidalia, GA/Dodge City CC)

Henry is the number one JUCO inside linebacker in the country and picked Ole Miss over Arkansas, Texas and a handful of other schools. Henry is a massive pickup for the Rebels given where he plays. Ole Miss has had horrific linebacking play the last couple seasons, though it has a handful of young players with upside in Kevontae Ruggs, Mohamed Sanogo and Jacquez Jones. Henry will likely be in the mix for immediate playing time and has the potential to fill a huge gap immediately for Matt Luke and his staff as well as add depth where it is badly needed.

Targets:

8:30 A.M. — (4-star) DE Byron Young (Laurel, MS/ West Jones) signs with Alabama. Young picked Alabama over Mississippi State, Ole Miss and LSU.
