An Ole Miss student has been charged for a hit-and-run on the school’s campus.

University Police have filed a felony charge against 18-year-old Freshman John Walsten after he allegedly hit another student who was walking on campus.

Police say that the student was struck by Walsten’s Chevy Silverado around 2 a.m. on Sunday while crossing the road near the intersection of Northgate Drive and Sorority Row.

The unnamed student was found shortly after with severe injuries and remains in the hospital.

Walsten turned himself in to UPD officials and has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.
