PARCHMAN, Miss.–The death of an inmate at the Miss. State Penitentiary at Parchman is being investigated today. Thomas Smith, 38, who was in for life for murder, was found dead about 4 Monday morning by guards getting ready to wake the workers to get breakfast ready.
Smith was convicted of murder in Oktibbeha County in 2007. He was in a unit that houses inmate workers. It’s medium security.
