A Hattiesburg man facing charges of child abuse after an 8 year-old boy was found with whip marks all over his body.

Twenty-eight year-old London Wright (pictured, center) sits behind bars after the Hattiesburg Police Department was called to a domestic disturbance Monday night. HPD Lt. Latosha Myers-Mitchell says officers arrived and began speaking with a woman who said she had been assaulted by Wright, her boyfriend.

Lt. Myers-Mitchell says when officers questioned the woman’s son, they noticed the injuries on the little boy’s legs, back and face. The markings were so severe, the boy was taken to the hospital for treatment. It was later determined the child had been beaten with an extension cord.

Wright is charged with one count of felonious abuse of a child. The investigation is ongoing.
