MADISON, Miss. — Madison police have arrested Melvin Potts, 20, the man they believe is responsible for the stabbing death of a Jackson State University department chair. They have identified him as a person of interest.
Garrick Shelton was found dead inside his home May 21. The murder weapon was found there too, but Shelton’s car was missing. Police later found it, abandoned in the parking lot of a Jackson apartment.
