Pope Chooses New Leader for Diocese of Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. – Pope Francis has chosen a new leader for the Diocese of Jackson. Reverend Joseph Kopacz will replace longtime bishop Joseph Latino who submitted his resignation back in October. Latino has reached the age limit of 75 for bishops in the Catholic Church.

Kopacz comes from Scranton, Pennsylvania at 63-years-old where he served as a priest. He will be ordained February 6.
