For the third time since February, an investigation into a threat made against Raymond High School is underway.

A media release from the Hinds County Sheriff’s office stated that they are “looking into a text threat sent to a student this morning.” Around 9 a.m., the School Resource Deputy was made aware of the threat that warned that the student was going to “blow up the school today”.

The release goes on to say that officers assisted the school staff in searching the school and determined this to be a prank. While the threat may have been deemed a prank, Major Pete Luke says that the investigation will continue.

“We have to assume that each threat is real until an assessment has been completed,” Major Luke said.

Officers remained at the school throughout the entire day, and investigators are now working to determine the origination of the text.
