Rankin County prison death looking suspicious

RANKIN COUNTY,  Miss.- The recent death of a Rankin County inmate is looking suspicious, according to Rankin County coroner David Ruth.

The body of Michael Riddle, 29, was found on Saturday at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Pearl. It appeared Riddle died from hanging.

However, after further examination by Coroner David Ruth, there is cause for suspicion.

“I have concerns that is was not an actual hanging,” said Ruth.

Ruth would not give details on who he believed was involved in Riddle’s death but investigators were interviewing a “person of interest.”

Riddle was serving time for a parole violation.
