Pepperidge Farm and Mondelēz Global LLC announced that there has been a voluntary recall for certain Ritz Cracker Sandwiches, Ritz Bits products and certain Goldfish. These products contain whey powder as an ingredient and the whey powder supplier has recalled due to the potential presence of salmonella.
Salmonella is a microorganism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.
The recall for the Ritz Cracker Sandwiches and Ritz Bits products is limited exclusively to the products listed in the grid below, available at retail stores nationwide.
There have been no complaints of illness reported to Mondelēz Global to date in connection with these products.

This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Pepperidge Farm initiated an investigation and is voluntarily recalling four varieties of Goldfish crackers. The products were distributed throughout the United States. No illnesses have been reported. No other Pepperidge Farm products in the U.S. are subject to this recall.
The following four varieties with the indicated codes are subject to this recall:
- Flavor Blasted® Xtra Cheddar
- Flavor Blasted® Sour Cream & Onion
- Goldfish® Baked with Whole Grain Xtra Cheddar
- Goldfish® Mix Xtra Cheddar + Pretzel
