Replacing Bennett Malone in the Miss. House: Special Election Set by the Governor

CARTHAGE, Miss.–Replacing former Rep. Bennett Malone in the Mississippi House will be done with a special election, now set for May 5, announced Gov. Bryant’s office Thursday afternoon. Malone represented District 45 in Leake, Neshoba, Rankin and Scott counties.

The long-time representative, who is a Democrat, retired in the middle of the legislative session. He is a rancher in Leake County.

The deadline to qualify to run for the seat is April 6.
