Success in the garden is a combination of trial-and-error, ancient wisdom and plain luck.
Master Gardener Tim Burress combines all those elements to create magic in his garden. He also combines several kinds of meal to create dazzling roses. Here’s his recipe:
Mix these elements in a 5 gallon bucket:
You’ll also need an empty 3 lb coffee can. This is your measuring cup
Fill that coffee can once with:
cottonseed meal
alfalfa meal
bone meal
fish meal
and then add A CUP of blood meal to the bucket
You can sprinkle this around the drip line of your rose bush, and even add a scoop of it when planting, transplanting or rooting roses.
