Gipson stepped down from the position when Governor Bryant appointed him Commissioner of Agriculture. Candidates Hayes Patrick and Price Wallace are set to face off in a race to represent the people of Rankin and Simpson Counties. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Whoever wins the seat will finish out Gipson’s term which ends in January of 2020. While Mississippians run without party labels in special elections, both Patrick and Wallace have said they would caucus with Republicans.
