Rust College Case Resolution

TUPELO, Miss.- Rust College has finally settled and paid an undisclosed amount of money due to a sexual misconduct case that was presented by three former students.

The lawsuit was filed in August of 2014 when a woman came forward claiming that Sylvester Oliver, a former professor, had raped her in his off campus office. She claimed that the College knew he had a history of sexual altercations involving women.

After the lawsuit was filled eight other women joined her in their allegations which dated back to 1993-1994 school year. The original woman was asking for $2 million dollars in damages.

Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reported that in March a Senior U.S. District Judge Neal Biggers Jr. dismissed sex of the eight claims due to the three-year statute of limitations.
